Ms. Sharmila Shyangtan (Tamang) is an independent researcher who graduates from Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED) – Masters in Philosophy Mphil) from Development Studies. She is a receipt of The Storm Foundation (Mphil program) and NOMA/NORAD, Norway (Master’s program) scholarship for her higher education. She believes higher education access has been transformative in her life as an individual from a marginalized community. Her works include researching higher education issues, mentoring a Master’s; s student for research, and working as a research consultant. Her research interests are higher education, diversity, identity, equity, inclusion, and indigenous people (focus women); she plans to explore structural institution issues, diversity in the university body, and indigenous people’s experiences in the space. She is originally from Makwanpur, currently living at Harisidhhi with her husband (Anish) and sons (Kalsang and Kalden). She likes to read, travel, and gardening in her spare time, including spending quality time with family.
